Muffin Top Pan: How to Select the Right One

Muffin top pan normally has twelve or six cups in them that are shallow in nature mainly designed for baking only the top part of a muffin (traditional) without the stump or bottom part. This is possible as the muffin top pan cups are shallower than the normal muffin pans. Most of the consumers prefer the muffin tops over the stumps as they are crispy in nature. The stumps or bottom part of the muffins are crumb-like and softer than the muffin tops and lack the golden brown colored crunch which the muffin top gets. There are also persons who only consume the muffin tops and discard the stumps.

Muffin top pans are capable of producing muffin tops which could be eaten just like a piece of toast by applying the spread on one of the sides and can be held around the edges. This can be done even with a normal muffin by just detaching the top but in that case the stump should be buttered separately from the muffin top and moreover it might not taste like a muffin top. This is the reason that many muffin consumers throw away the stumps.

Muffin top pans could be made out of aluminum or stainless steel or non stick material. Certain kinds are even dishwasher safe. Cleaning the muffin top pans made out of non stick material is very easy as they could be wiped well using tissue paper. Chopped nuts or mixture of brown sugar, butter and oats could be added to muffin tops prior to baking so that they get a golden brown color and enhanced flavor. Muffin top pans can also be used for baking small buns or big cookies or rolls.
