English Muffin Bread Making
English muffin bread is nothing but a loaf version of the English muffins (round). Even though both the versions are created using same kind of ingredients, English muffins are cooked on top of a griddle while English muffin bread is baked using a loaf pan.
English muffin breads look very similar to the English muffins with the crannies and nooks but are sliced just like normal bread. The texture of both the muffins and muffin breads look like a crater due to the addition of baking soda to the batter. The batter need not be kneaded like the normal yeast breads and hence it is easy and quick to prepare. The batter includes yeast, flour, salt, baking soda, milk and water. Some even add butter milk instead of normal milk. The English muffin breads are also coated with cornmeal coats on the upper side just like the English muffins.
English muffin breads can be sliced and eaten with many toppings like cheese or jam. Many even spread tomato sauce over the muffin breads and add leftover and cheese on top and bake them in the oven like pizzas. They could be baked in both the bread machines and ovens. They can also be made using microwave ovens. The recipe for making English muffin breads in the bread machines mostly use powdered milk.
Many serve English muffin breads as a base for sloppy joes or ground beef sauce and also as a food sponge when served with fried eggs as they are good for getting even the last drop of egg yolk.
